Flash Fiction Friday Challenge for 8-5-11

(Photo provided by Lexi; original source unknown)

Your challenge for this Friday, 8-5-11, is to use the picture above to write a flash fiction of 80-160 words. Since everyone seems to be enjoying the required phrases, please use this phrase in your submission:

"...strangled cry..."

As usual, nobody's checking word counts, or the key phrase, but you only cheat yourself if you break the rules. Unless you're breaking them to earn a spanking....in which case, see me after class.

My take on this pic will go up by 12:01 AM on Friday morning. If you are participating this week (and the more the merrier), simply stop by any time after that and leave your link using the widget in the body of the post. Then everybody will know you're playing along and they'll come leave nice comments on your entry. Everyone wins!

**PLEASE READ: Note that I will be travelling for business reasons starting July 16th until mid-August. There will be a scheduled FFF Challenge each Monday while I'm gone, and a Friday "link collector" post, but I may or may not have the time to create my own story for the challenge each week. Because I don't do any NSFW stuff on my laptop, I also probably won't have email access during that time and also may not be able to leave comments on the other entries.

That said, please don't let these differences keep you from playing anyway! The challenge entry will still go up each Monday and the link collector post will still appear each Friday. If you email me or leave comments, but I don't answer, it's not because I'm ignoring you -- I'm just off the grid for a time.

Here's a button for you if you want to include that in your post. Use it to link back to the challenge post, if you like, or link to the Flash Fiction Friday FAQ if you'd rather do that. That Flash Fiction Friday FAQ is also the link you should visit if you're new to the whole FFF thing and have questions. I want everybody to enjoy this, after all.

Check back here on Friday for the list of participants and possibly my own take if I've been able to create one, and then again on Monday for the next FFF challenge! And as always, if you have any photos or artwork you'd like to see used in an upcoming week, send them my way. Thanks to Lexi for providing this week's photo!

First Class Train Travel

My head is buzzing. Mists swirl about briefly but clear when  I shake my head. I look around. You and I are sitting on a couch in a spacious, tasteful compartment in a train car. I brilliantly deduce this from the rocking and swaying we feel and the rackety-clack as the train makes its way along. You're sitting next to me, wearing a opaque pearl gray dress that hints at, promises, much more than it actually shows. Your smile is quick and mischievous, your eyes dancing with suppressed glee. What are you thinking?

The woman sitting across from us says something and I miss it, my head buzzing again. You're quicker on the uptake, though, and soon you're both in an animated discussion. The guy who's with her looks at me and we share a brief glance of amusement. The other fellow, sitting in the corner, has barely looked up from his iPad since entering the compartment a while back. Not much of a traveling companion, but then again, sometimes silence is nice.

The mists swirl about a bit more and the light outside unaccountably changes -- one moment high noon, the next giving way to the gloaming of approaching twilight. I reach for your hand, looking for substance, wanting to hold onto something, but discover that you're not sitting next to me anymore. Confused, I look at the woman across from us. She seems to read my mind and says that you'd gone to the restroom while I was out. "Out?" I ask, wanting clarification, but she simply nods.

I lean back and stretch out my legs. There's another hitch and suddenly you're next to me again, leaning up against me in a very pleasant way. Your face is full of high color, your eyes are intense, your lips parted. What were you doing in that bathroom, hmm?

You lean close and very shortly I find out, as you begin nibbling on my ear. "I think I may have made a mistake," you murmur to me, your lips exploring, caressing. Tiny electrical shocks run up and down my body; you know my ears are a weak point and always exploit it mercilessly. "You know one time is never enough for me. All it does is whet my appetite for more."

You're whetting my appetite, too, your hot breath on my neck, now licking lightly at my earlobe, nipping at the side of my neck, planting hot kisses along the curve of my collarbone. I feel your fingers trailing down my side, nails lightly grazing my ribs, my belly, making light scritching sounds as they reach the rougher fabric of my jeans. You rub lightly against the outline in my crotch. Heat at your fingertips. Heat against your wrist as you run it down between my legs. Heat in the palm of your hand as you take a firm grasp and squeeze, gently. I sigh softly.

Over your head and shoulders I can see the couple across from us. They are watching intently, not saying a word. Their faces are blank masks, revealing nothing, but their eyes are avid. She leans over and whispers something quietly and he nods, without taking his eyes off you as your explorations become more insistent. Her mouth parts and her tongue steals out to slide around her ruby red lips, just once, the only outward sign of anything at all. I glance sideways and see the guy in the corner shift a bit, aiming the camera eye of his gadget our way. His fingers tap, tap, delicately at its surface. Posting to Facebook? Stealing a shot of us and captioning it with "Compartmentalized Lust"? Filming a bit of video for a private reenactment later? Who knows.

Your hand is now rubbing eagerly against the spike in my jeans. I moan a low moan of need and you murmur something against my throat, an endearment, an exhortation, I can't tell. Your tongue darts out and outlines my Adam's apple; I shiver. I slide my free hand down your back, caressing. Starting my own exploration. You press closer against me and I feel the soft weight of your breasts on my arm. Maddening, fanning the flames. I wind my hand into your hair idly, liking its texture, then tighten a bit and use it to lift your head. You gasp slightly but then understanding replaces annoyance, when I lean forward and kiss you, hard.

I love the taste of your mouth. Your tongue is always ready for a duel, and it slides against mine, heat and wetness, making me want more, as always. I slip my free hand lower down your back, squeezing your ass on the way, then slide it around front and gently nudge your legs further apart. You murmur "mmm" into my mouth and help spread them. Meanwhile, your own hands are still rubbing and stroking me, now sliding along my thighs, now brushing against the throb in my jeans, now toying with the buttons on my shirt. I feel you pull a few of them loose, then slip a finger or two inside and trace random designs on my skin. Goose bumps seethe in your nail's wake.

Soft murmurs from the couple across from us, now. I steal a glance, but their expressions are still enigmatic, unruffled, their eyes pools of night. I get the strange feeling that they're grading our performance in their heads and will assign us a score whenever....this.....reaches its by now inescapable conclusion. She shifts in her seat, crossing her legs; he rolls his head slightly, as if to loosen tension, and then relapses into immobility.

I turn my head, now, and look more openly at the man in the corner. He gazes back tranquilly, not bothered in the least. A slight grin tugs at the corners of his mouth and he adjusts the gadget on his knees a bit, the fabric of his slacks rustling. That sound seems to snap you out of your trance and for the first time you seem to realize our audience; you follow my glance over to him and he nods, as if to say "Don't let me stop you, please." Swiftly, you look over at the couple, but they are no less inscrutable to you than they were to me. Wait -- there, a motion of his hand, a definite "don't mind us; continue" flick of the wrist.

Well, now. I squirm around a bit, freeing my other arm, and slide both hands down your back, hiking your dress up and over your hips, revealing that marvelous ass. I cup its roundness, take double handfuls of firm, warm flesh, glad (not for the first time) that you go bare beneath your skirts, dresses, slacks, whatever. Your scent rises, and my head spins again. The room darkens and everything slips sideways for a second or two; when I raise my head you're in my lap, you've pulled my shirt back and down over my shoulders to pinion my arms at my sides. You wriggle against me, rubbing your chest against mine. I can feel your nipples through the silken fabric, and I want to reach up, to caress; your hands curl around my wrists and hold them gently in place.

You pull back and then reach down between us. Now both hands are working busily at the snap on my jeans. In a trice the zipper is down. I raise up and you pull jeans and boxer briefs down; then your fingers are dancing around my hard cock, freed from its entanglement and now pointing angrily at the ceiling. Your touch is firm and cool, slippery and silken smooth along heated rigidity. I moan your name and you chuckle, low and soft, glancing over your shoulder at the still pair opposite you. Staring over your other shoulder at them, I see the color rising in their faces; they may be good at hiding emotion, but the more normal responses are hard at work, it seems.

You're hard at work too, pointing, adjusting, caressing. You hike the dress up further in the front and slide two fingers into yourself. I manage to worm shoulders and arms free of the shirt, and then I can wrap them around you, run fingernails down your back, dig furrows into you, marking you. I shudder all over as you pull your fingers out and then use them to rub your wetness all over my cock. Slick and shining, coated with your excitement, it throbs like a piston, like something barely in check.

My eyes close of their own volition as you lift and then settle firmly on me, something so familiar, the pulse of heat old as time, that feels new and incredible every single time we enact this little scene. The aroma is more piquant, the bouquet made more spicy this time by our watchers, who still have made little sign of their presence other than faint murmurings or rustlings as they shift in their seats. I open my eyes and stare straight at the woman behind you, who nods in approval as you begin the age-old rhythm, hips pumping slowly, so slowly.

Heat. Delicious, delicious heat, radiating outward from my groin. My heart pounds. My lips close on a nipple and you gasp my name. Deliberately, I close my teeth and this time you hiss sharply...but your hips' slow pumping actually speeds up. I slide one hand down to your ass and clench it there, grab a handful, an anchor to help hold you down, keep you from sliding off the earth, balanced precariously on the precipice of pleasure.

Mists swirl through my brain again. Grunting angrily, I shake my head to clear them; when things resolidify, you're no longer in my lap. Instead, I've rolled on top of you, pressing you down with all my weight. Your legs have come up and are over my shoulders, ankles hooked round my neck. Steady pressure there urges me onward. Now it's my hips that move with slow deliberation; I pull back, slide forward, pull back, slide forward, an aching grinding rhythm that's making us both moan and whimper.

I shift a bit in response to pressure from your arm on one side, realizing that you're moving my shoulder out of the field of view of the camera in the corner, knowing that it must be fixed on your pleasure-dazed face, the hair straggling over your eyes, sweat beading on your forehead, mouth slack and open, wet with lust. I'm transfixed by it myself. You've given yourself over to it, let the sensations take control.

Control. We've never been out of control like this, coupling shamelessly, rutting like a pair of animals in full view of three total strangers. I can feel their gazes traveling over our bodies, fixing on my cock as it emerges briefly from your tight cunt before sliding home again, watching with slow approval the swaying of your breasts with each thrust, trailing down my back as you score red welts on it with your fingernails. I feel you clutching at me, your excitement shifting into a higher gear, your pussy opening still further, inviting me to use it, take it ruthlessly and roughly.

It's not just your pussy that's urging me, either. Your voice reaches me through the fog that's closing in again. I hear the words that never fail to wring me out and drive me wild with lust, those filthy phrases you love to tease and taunt me with: "Oh yeah. Give me that big cock, baby. Pound my hot pussy. Mmmmmyeahhh, ohh yeahh. Fuck me so good." You don't stop as I wrap both arms around you and pull you upward, lift you off the couch till we're in a bridge position. I mold your body to mine, thrusting harder, feeling your wetness splash and drool down your thighs and mine. I gasp with each new thrust. The pleasure builds and builds and builds.

One more thought flashes, dimly, in my head: let's give them all a real show for the finish. With that, I pull back and out of you. Your eyelids fly up like windowshades and you moan a slow "Noooooo" but it's cut off; I wrestle us around until you're on my lap once more, this time sitting on me as if I were a chair, both of us staring, defiantly, in turn, at our watchers. They smile and nod encouragingly, drinking in the sight, licking their lips now: at last, clearly and obviously enjoying what they see. And they should -- your pussy clenching around me as I thrust upward and into you, my hands squeezing your breasts, your fingers alternately stroking your clit and the length of my shaft as it emerges briefly at the end of each stroke. Your head rolls back on your shoulders and a low "aaaaaaaaaaaaa" of pure sensation emerges; through the haze, I register that you're coming, one of those full-body orgasms that leave you as limp as a wet dishrag. Your body gets heavier in my arms before your head snaps up again and you start bouncing up and down on me, forcing yourself down to meet each upward thrust, growling deep in your throat, a repeated refrain: "Come on. Come on. Come on. Oh, come on."

I feel stretched to the breaking point. Ribbons of light spin and twirl through my head. My cock twitches, my balls tingle, and almost before I can even gasp out your name, I'm coming myself, spurt after spurt, mauling your breasts hard enough to leave bruises, grunting a low "uh, uh, uh, uh" sound in time with your own exhortations. Your hips slam down on me in hard approval, your body pressing against me in unutterable zeal. I thrust and thrust up into you, the mists rising again, wanting only to prolong this agony, this ecstasy, this far too temporary union. The fog drifts higher and soon it covers us completely.

I open my eyes and sit up. Alone, in my hotel bedroom. Tangled sheets, damp with perspiration, wet and messy with sticky precum. My cock throbs angrily, annoyed at having been denied its release. I sigh, sinking back on the pillows, heart still beating hard. I close my eyes and say your name, emptily.

I swear I can still see their admiring gazes, can still smell you, hear that low moan of delight as you came and came hard.

A dream? Or a memory?

Guest commenting turned back on

Someone recently asked me via Formspring if guest commenting was going to be turned off forever. I was having a problem with spam comments a while back, so I disabled guest commenting; however, it's been turned back on as of this morning. I've also switched on comment moderation for any posts older than 14 days, so that should help as well.

Thanks, whoever you were, for reminding me. I do want everyone to be able to leave comments here. You can also always reach me via the Formspring link at the top right, or by emailing me at insatiabear [at] gmail (dot) com.

(Source image: "Nurse" by Gernot)

[[Note: No story from me this week as I'm travelling; however, other participants, please leave a link to your own story! Please see below.]]

Your challenge for today was to use the picture above and write a flash fiction of 69-139 words. Additionally, I provided a key phrase I wanted to see used somewhere in the submission:

"...twitched helplessly..."

Nobody's checking word counts, or for the key phrase, but you're only cheating yourself if you break the rules. Unless you're doing it to earn a spanking (in which case, see me after class).

Special Bonus Director's Commentary Track:

A note to all: I am travelling for business from July 16th till mid-August. Didn't have time to create my own take before leaving, but see below for the other participants who did play!

If you are playing along this week, please leave your link below using the widget. It will appear in the text of the post itself, not in the comments, so everyone that's playing will be listed here. This frees me from having to chase people down to find out if they're playing or update the Friday post several times for late entries. Your cooperation is appreciated.

In any case, the participants list is below. Go check them out, and thanks to all who played along.

Check back here on Monday for the next challenge! And if you have any photos or artwork you'd like to see in a future challenge, please send them my way.

Wanting....

Wanting.........

...your lips on my cock, your tits in my hands, your hair sweeping over my body as you crawl up my torso....

....your cries of delight as you cum for the fifth time in thirty minutes, your pussy clenching around my invading fingers, your eyes locked with mine as I plunge deep inside you.....

......your legs wrapped around my ass when I bottom out inside your hot cunt, your nails raking my back, your tongue buried in my mouth....

.....your pussy juice smeared all over my face, your body spread out before me like a garden of delights, your breasts held up for me to anoint with my cum....

......your oiled, slippery body undulating against mine, your head thrown back in joy as you ride me to ecstasy, your talented fingers coaxing me back into hardness for yet another go.....

Wanting all this and so much more.

TMI Tuesday: At The Movies (attempt #2)

I've been meaning to get back to writing here regularly for some time. And so, because I have some spare time today, and have actual computer access rather than smartphone-only access on a tiny screen, here's a new post. We'll start with something simple: TMI Tuesday. Don't worry, there will be more naughty fantasies and stories to come.

At The Movies
1. Why do you go to the movies?
a. To feel
b. To think
c. To escape
d. To enjoy the air conditioning

A, B, and C. Also, to enjoy the immense screen size and the enveloping atmosphere. Also to enjoy the group aspect of the film ("Snakes on a Plane" wouldn't have been interesting at all without the rowdy midnight crowd who'd come out to howl with laughter, and it's just no fun seeing the end of an era like "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" without seeing it with a huge crowd of SW fanatics....and so on).

Besides, my home theater is already a damn good approximation of your local cineplex. (I've sunk almost $10,000 into building an awesome system; HT fanatics, email me or leave a comment here if you're curious about my system specs). Most of my watching is done at home, but there are times when you want to see it on the big screen, as I said.

2. In the last six months, have you viewed more movies at home or at the movie theatre?

At home, definitely. See above remark re: my own home theater.

3. What was the last movie you watched at home? At the theatre?

Last one at home was the new Blu-Ray release of "Das Boot" (which looks and sounds out-freakin'-standing in high def). Last one at the theater was the latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" release, "POTC: On Stranger Tides". Ian McShane as Blackbeard alone makes that movie worth seeing. I do rather wish they would end the series before it starts going downhill, though. I've enjoyed all four so far, and that's rare.

4. Which do you enjoy most in a movie?
a. Two beings battling to death such as Godzilla and Mothra (or any foe), Gladiator
b. Car chase scene such as Ronin, Fast & the Furious
c. Major heist such as Italian Job, Ocean’s Eleven, Snatch
d. Epic battle scene such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings: Two Towers

I like all of these, but they have to be done well (as in the examples listed). What I enjoy MOST in a movie, though, is not good sound (although that's important), or good music (although that's nearly essential), or good cinematography (nearly the most important), or even a good plot/story (second most important). The thing that can save a movie that doesn't have any of the others is really, really good acting -- characters that you really care about, brought to life by someone who is genuinely good at what they do. Conversely, all the explosions or heists or car chases or battle scenes can't save a film with horrid acting all the way through -- although they can still make it entertaining, it can't be a great movie without good performances.

I'll give an example. Jim Jarmusch's cult film "Night on  Earth" has a low budget, quirky music, a dingy, dirty feel to the cinematography, and a weird premise: a night spent with five taxi drivers from five cities across the world. There's no real action to speak of, no explosions, no big-budget CGI. But the acting is so damn good from the participants involved that it's become one of my favorite films. From the few big names in the first couple segments, to the foreign actors who are not well know, every one of them makes you care about their stories and their lives. Great stuff.

5. In your opinion, which movie(s) have the best or most enjoyable sex scenes?

I'm presuming that, rather than use porn films as the examples, we should be discussing more commercially viable films. My picks, then, in no particular order, except the first one, which is still my favorite:

1. "The Thomas Crown Affair" (the remake, with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo): The chemistry between the two is amazing and the sex scene with them is screen-melting hot. My only wish is that it were longer. I have never been able to watch this with a partner without jumping her partway through that scene.
2. "Basic Instinct". The tension and danger and pulse-pounding uncertainty of many of the scenes in this one is what makes them hot. The scene with Douglas and Tripplehorn (tearing her clothes, fucking her bent over the sofa) is one of the hottest I've ever seen.
3. "Desert Hearts", a lesbian drama, has a lovely, tender and very emotional scene between the two female leads.
4. "Watchmen" has a short, but very enjoyable scene between Dan Dreiberg (Nite Owl) and Laurie Juspeczyk (Silk Spectre). Also has Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" for a great soundtrack.
5. The Rebecca De Mornay pic "And God Created Woman" has some amazingly hot scenes.
6. Linda Fiorentino is nuclear hot in "The Last Seduction" as a femme fatale who does things like fuck her victims in an alleyway.
7. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are damned hot in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", fucking each other amidst the wreckage of their house after they've been trying to kill each other.

6. Which of these is your favorite Hollywood movie plot?
a. Boy meets girl
b. The Jesus Story (apocalyptic; someone is saving the world)
c. Fish out of Water
d. Buddy movie

None of these, really. If we're talking pure Hollywood films, my favorite plot is "Stuff blows up real good", which could fit lots of different movies, e.g., "Top Gun", "Independence Day", "2012", "Transformers", "Terminator 2", and lots more.

7. What is your favorite movie genre? (Thriller, comedy, action/adventure, drama, mystery, fright, etc.)

My favorite genre is probably action/adventure, with science fiction/fantasy close behind that.

8. In movies, what makes you cry?
a. mistreatment of a prime, likeable character
b. gushy, mushy romance (e.g., marriage proposals, couple finally proclaim their love)
c. very scary jump-out-at-you, make-you-pee-your-pants scenes
d. anyone or anything dying

Emotionally charged moments in general get me choked up. Theoden's speech to the Rohirrim before they charge at the Battle of Pelennor Fields, in "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King". Amelie Poulain's emotional breakdown near the end of  "Amelie". The "Order 66" slaughter of Jedi in "Revenge of the Sith". The "Our Town" flashback sequence in "Cars", or the fire-pit sequence of "Toy Story 3". Scrooge's change of heart at the end of "A Christmas Carol". The "Once upon a dream" sequence of "Sleeping Beauty". Damn near half the film "The Princess Bride". And so on.

Bonus: What is your favorite movie? Why?

I could never pick a single favorite. Several of the ones  I've already listed, plus many more. "Gladiator", "Tron: Legacy", "Pitch Black" and its sequel "The Chronicles of Riddick", the Lord of the Rings films, the Star Wars movies. "Pulp Fiction". "Sin City". "Casino Royale" and "Goldfinger" in the James Bond series. "Shoot 'Em Up" and "Sexy Beast" and "Grosse Pointe Blank" for cult films. Most of Pixar's catalogue. Most of Disney's animated catalogue. "Saving Private Ryan". The "Matrix" trilogy. "Gattaca". "Dark City". The "Bourne" trilogy. I'll stop before this gets too long.

Flash Fiction Friday 7-15-11: "Still Life"

(Image provided by Lexi, photographer and title unknown)

Never seen a statue quite this realistic before. Absolutely exquisite.

...Wait, what? Moving eyes? Hang on a second.
The words arrowed into his brain as those eyes locked with his: Help! Get me out of here!
He stood stock still as the implications registered. He opened his mouth and she cut him off. I've jumped to the wrong place. So far I've been playing “sculpture”, but the second someone actually touches me, that's it. Please, help me!

He glanced around swiftly. The gallery was empty. All right, he thought, pulling off his coat and draping it around her shoulders. Get ready to move.

Her body was warm and soft. She felt very real indeed.

Oh, I'm definitely real, she sent. And once we have some privacy, I'll show you. I don't forget favors.

Your challenge for today was to use the picture above and write a flash fiction of 85-135 words. Additionally, I provided a key phrase I wanted to see used somewhere in the submission:

"...stock still..."

Nobody's checking word counts, or for the key phrase, but you're only cheating yourself if you break the rules. Unless you're doing it to earn a spanking (in which case, see me after class).

Special Bonus Director's Commentary Track:

I had a lot of fun with this one. I've seen plenty of nude photos suggesting the subject was part of an exhibition at a very avant-garde museum, which leads to interesting speculations about how the average gallery-goer would react to a living, breathing nude.

But that wasn't enough for me. I just finished reading a time-travel novel (Up the Line by Robert Silverberg) and when I saw this my mind just naturally headed in that direction. I imagined her as a time-traveler who'd jumped into the wrong place and time entirely. How would you react at finding yourself nude in an art gallery god only knows where or when?  If you're her, well, you freeze in terror and hope you can find somebody who might be sympathetic before you get arrested or otherwise apprehended. The idea to make her telepathic was partly to give her story more credence and partly to save time with introductions.

I kind of wish now I'd made the word length less stringent. I'd have liked to explore how, exactly, she rewarded him for his favor, later on.....

Thanks to Lexi for providing this week's photo!

Flash Fiction Friday Challenge for 7-15-11

(Image provided by Lexi, photographer and title unknown)

Your challenge for this Friday, 7-15-11, is to use the picture above to write a flash fiction of 85-135 words. Since everyone seems to be enjoying the required phrases, please use this phrase in your submission:

"...stock still..."

Flash Fiction Friday 7-8-11: "An Offer She Couldn't Refuse"

(Image provided by The Temptress, title and photographer unknown)

She stood shifting nervously from foot to foot as I eyed her, measuring her worth, considering how best to make use of her. Her husband had run up some truly awe-inspiring debts to me, and rather than send my goons around to lump him up a few times, I'd decided that the use of his wife for a few weeks would pay the tab nicely. I understood he was still recovering from the beating she'd given him when she found out.

"Turn around," I directed, and she did. I pulled my belt free and in a twinkling had it looped round her wrists. Leather creaked under stress, and she hissed in pain as I drew it tighter. I ran my hand down that silky smooth back to the curve of her ass and squeezed, pleased with my acquisition.

"Face me," I said, and she did, her eyes flicking down to my crotch in boredom....and widening in surprise. Then she licked her lips and pursed them for a soundless whistle.

Perhaps this month wouldn't be so tedious after all.

Your challenge for today was to use the picture above and write a flash fiction of 60-160 words. Additionally, I provided a key phrase I wanted to see used somewhere in the submission:

"...leather creaked..."

Nobody's checking word counts, or for the key phrase, but you're only cheating yourself if you break the rules. Unless you're doing it to earn a spanking (in which case, see me after class).

Special Bonus Director's Commentary Track:

I was caught by surprise with this one. I had thought I would perhaps tell a story about a domineering woman playing reverse-power games with her underling, dressing him in finery as if he were her boss and having him dominate her or be fired. It seemed a bit too much like sexual harassment to me, though (pleasant as the scenario might seem to me, sex with your employees is pretty much a recipe for trouble), so I cast about for a different approach. It occurred to me that the guy looked like a gangster of some kind -- something about the haircut, the grooming, the completely at-ease posture -- and suddenly there it was, a story about an urbane crime lord making use of his power and enjoying it to the utmost. I liked the idea that she went along with the idea not because she particularly loved her husband, but because she was bored and horny enough to find the prospect appealing. Hope you enjoyed it as much as she plans to.

Flash Fiction Friday 7-1-11: "Memento Mori"

(Source image: title unknown, photo by Samantha Wolov)

The candles burned low. The musk of our exertions hung heavy in the air. She lay adrift and asprawl, tangled under and over me, her head pillowed on my chest. I felt the heat, the moisture of her tears, the rhythm of her shaking shoulders as she wept.

"It isn't fair," she sobbed.

There wasn't enough air in the room, no words that would come, no answer to the unanswerable. The lump of ice in my throat was absolute. Instead, I tightened my arms around her, and she raised her head. Her lip trembled, her eyes were huge and dark, but she leaned close and our mouths met, bruised and tender, desperate and lost.

Eternity in slow sweet increments. She poised herself above me, hands on the wall, hips moving in slow ellipsis. Her breasts swayed, her hair swung forward, her breath came sharp and fast. I wanted, needed, to reach out to her, to reach for her, but it was too late for that. Instead I grabbed fistfuls of sheets, denying the ache I felt. Even as we fell together, fell upward toward completion, I ached, my heart, my straining muscles, my rigidity so sweetly enclasped. Ached, knowing it would fade. Ached, knowing there was no happily ever after, not for us. Never for us.

Your challenge for today was to use the picture above and write a flash fiction of 150-220 words. Additionally, I provided a key phrase I wanted to see used somewhere in the submission:

"...fistfuls of [[noun]]..."

Nobody's checking word counts, or for the key phrase, but you're only cheating yourself if you break the rules. Unless you're doing it to earn a spanking (in which case, see me after class).

Special Bonus Director's Commentary Track:

I really have no idea where this came from. When I first saw this picture it was so clear -- a beautiful romantic moment in time, one of those eternities where time slows to a crawl. Endless waves of pleasure, drifting along, borne on a tide of mingled emotion and lust. I've had moments like that, some even in hotel rooms like this, and I relived some of them as I looked at the picture. I smiled, remembering. My fingers tapped at the keys, measuring, discarding, and when I started, that was exactly what I intended. To relive those happy moments, to capture some of that in a reworking.

And then it went wrong, somehow. Sometimes the best of intentions mean nothing, when the story weaves itself the way it chooses. Despite what I'd wanted originally, I watched from the outside as something very different emerged. I found myself waxing lyrical, turning a lighthearted romp into something more akin to a Tennyson poem. Not that I have the heartstring-yanking capabilities of Tennyson, but his is a style worth emulating, at least.

I didn't know what had happened with these two, whether life had forced them apart or whether their relationship had disintegrated. I just knew that it was all over. The title may give you some idea of my ultimate decision. You can come up with your own reasons, if it comforts you. For my part, I'm content to leave them behind and let them hold on to the time they have left.
